Specifications can vary by G1 configuration and production revision. Unitree specifically notes that parameters may differ according to configuration and application.

Unitree G1 Degrees of Freedom

The standard G1 provides 23 joint degrees of freedom.

The G1 EDU can be configured with 23–43 joint motors, depending on options.

The humanoid architecture includes:

  • 6 DoF per leg
  • 1 DoF waist on the standard model
  • 5 DoF per arm
  • Optional additional waist joints
  • Optional dexterous hands
  • Optional additional wrist degrees of freedom

This large joint range allows G1 to perform highly flexible humanoid movements and provides an advanced platform for AI-based motion research.

Unitree G1 Dexterous Hands

The G1 platform can be equipped with force-controlled dexterous hands.

The optional Dex3-1 three-finger hand provides:

  • 7 active degrees of freedom
  • 3 active DoF in the thumb
  • 2 active DoF in the index finger
  • 2 active DoF in the middle finger
  • Optional tactile sensor arrays

The hand uses force-position hybrid control to provide more precise manipulation of objects.
